Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Local Plan Public Notice

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) requires each local workforce development board, in partnership with the local Chief Elected Official, to develop and submit a comprehensive four-year plan that addresses the current and projected workforce and economic development needs of the community. The plan serves as a strategic framework for delivering workforce services, aligning education and training resources, and supporting employers and job seekers throughout the region.

Collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and transparency are central to the WIOA planning process. CareerSource South Florida, serving Workforce Development Area 23, operates under the current WIOA Local Plan effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2029. Through the implementation of this plan, Workforce Development Area 23 will continue to maintain a business-led, market-responsive, integrated, and results-oriented workforce development system that supports the needs of Miami-Dade County’s employers, workers, and residents.

CareerSource South Florida is also publishing a draft two-year modification to the 2025-2029 WIOA Local Plan for public review and comment. The draft modification is available through the link below, and residents, employers, community partners, and other stakeholders are encouraged to review the document and provide feedback during the public comment period from Sept 4 through Oct 5, 2026.
